Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) / Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) tank applications

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is an advanced active emissions control technology designed to reduce the level (up to 90 percent) of nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted from engines running diesel fuel.

A part of the SCR system is the reductant, or Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), AdBlue™ being the most popular in Australia. The DEF needs to be stored in a separate tank which is refilled. DEF in these tanks may become contaminated (possibly during transfer or storage) and must be drained. Contaminated DEF can clog the DEF injector and damage other parts of the SCR system.

The DEF solution is clear, non-toxic and safe to handle. However, it can corrode some metals and so must be handled, stored and transported carefully. The use of an EZ oil drain valve prevents spillage, especially if the drain is in a confined or awkward place.

Often, the DEF tank is in a position that is awkward or messy to drain and that is where the EZ Oil Drain Valve is extremely helpful. Our DEF drain valves are specifically designed for DEF applications and are made of stainless steel to resist corrosion from DEF. All DEF valves have a hose end to attach suitable hose and direct any fluid away, cleanly and without spillage on the surrounding parts.

Many OEMs, like Caterpillar, CNH, and John Deere currently use the EZ DEF drain valve in their SCR systems.
